The widest-ranging shelf in the shop, and the one most likely to hold the exact thing someone has been unable to find since they moved.
Zefir is the star: the airy apple-and-egg-white confection that is nothing like an American marshmallow. We carry it from Udarnitsa and Vdohnovenie chocolate-covered, and from Petersburgskiy Konditer in assorted flavours, plus Lyanezh gourmet marshmallows. Alongside them, Roshen "Kyiv Vechirniy" hazelnut chocolates from Ukraine and Orion Choco Pie.
For cooking and baking, Uvelka mixes for blini, Russian-style pancakes and vanilla cake, and Makfa buckwheat pasta. Boromir cozonac — the Romanian sweet walnut bread — comes in walnut, cocoa and raisin, and Dobrogea Eugenia cocoa cream biscuits are the Romanian childhood biscuit. Zergüt brings Bulgarian kashkaval sheep's milk cheese and stuffed grape leaves, Borjomi the Georgian sparkling mineral water, and Babkiny and Tambovskiy Volk the roasted sunflower and pumpkin seeds that are properly a national habit rather than a snack.
All shelf-stable, all shipping anywhere in the United States. European Food Store has imported Eastern European groceries to Santa Rosa since 2011, and new arrivals land most weeks.
