European Food Store has been bringing authentic imported goods from across Europe and the Middle East to Santa Rosa, California since 2011. What started as a passion for sharing the flavours of home has grown into a trusted destination for European expats, food lovers, and anyone curious about the traditions of Germany, Poland, Italy, France, Hungary and beyond.
More than food
The name says food, and food is most of it — but it is not all of it. Four things sit on these shelves, and people come in for all four:
- European groceries. German marzipan and stollen, Polish chocolates, Latvian smoked sprats, Turkish delight, rye bread baked in our own oven every morning, cured meats, cheese, pickles, coffee and loose-leaf tea.
- European household products. German laundry detergent and fabric softener — Persil, Perwoll, Vernel — in the formulas actually sold in Germany, which are not the same as the versions sold under those names in America.
- European beauty and personal care. German skin care, hand cream, lip balm and deodorant: Nivea, Labello, Kamill, Penaten, Atrix, Fa. Again, the German formulas rather than the American ones.
- Souvenirs and gifts. German beer steins and Oktoberfest mugs, ceramic coasters, and handmade American leather coasters. Sensible presents for somebody who misses home, or who came back from a trip wanting a piece of it.
How to get it
We ship shelf-stable groceries and gifts anywhere in the United States. Chocolate and other heat-sensitive items travel to California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Arizona only. Frozen goods and fresh deli are store pickup and local delivery around Santa Rosa and Sonoma County.
