Collection: Scandinavia

Nordic food, which in this shop means three things: tinned fish, crispbread, and the baking ingredients Scandinavian recipes assume you already own.

Cod liver in its own oil is the centre of it — Riga Gold, Riga Lux, Royal Zenith and iCan, in 115 g and 120 g tins, processed and packed in Iceland. Naturally rich in omega-3 and vitamin D, eaten straight from the tin on dark rye, or the traditional way with boiled egg and onion. Latvian smoked sprats sit beside them, the classic sprat sandwich tin.

For baking, Lars' Own Swedish pearl sugar — the coarse nibs that stay whole on top of a bun and are close to impossible to substitute — plus Belgian pearl sugar, Scandinavian-style porridge rice, and Odense almond paste for marzipan and kringle. Valio Viola cheese spread from Finland, Finlandia butter, and knäckebröd from Siljans, Wasa and Finn Crisp round it out.

Everything here is shelf-stable and ships anywhere in the United States. European Food Store has imported Nordic groceries to Santa Rosa since 2011.
