Cones of hard loaf sugar, made for one job: Feuerzangenbowle.

The cone sits in a metal tongs over a pot of hot spiced wine, gets soaked in rum and set alight, and drips caramelised sugar into the bowl below. It is a German Christmas party ritual as much as a drink, and it does not work with ordinary sugar — a loose crystal will not hold the flame.
