Sætre Gjende Turkjeks Hiking Biscuits, 7.8 oz (220g)

Turkjeks means hiking biscuit, and that is exactly what Gjende is — a firm, lightly sweet round stamped with the Sætre cockerel, named after a lake in Jotunheimen.

It is built to survive a rucksack. Dense, dry and not at all crumbly, which is why it goes in a pocket rather than on a plate. Norwegians eat them on the fjell with brown cheese, and at home with coffee.

Sætre has baked in Norway since 1883.
