The German formulation, not the American one. Phosphates have been banned from household laundry detergent in the European Union since 2013. European machines run longer, cooler cycles, and these are built and dosed for that — which is why a smaller scoop goes further, and why people who have used them abroad come looking for them here.

The black-wash version — aimed at the grey, washed-out look that dark clothes get after a dozen cycles.

  • For all dark textiles
  • Cleans gently and renews dark colours and fibres

Use and care

Keep out of reach of children. Follow the dosing and safety instructions printed on the bottle. For machine and hand washing only.

Imported from Europe — the text on the packaging is German. The full English description is above.

Henkel. Made in Germany.

Why this is not the detergent from the warehouse store

Henkel makes Persil in Germany, and separately makes a Persil for the American market. They are not the same detergent. Same name on the bottle, different formulation inside. The German one is what people import, and it is what we stock — shipped from Germany, not repackaged from elsewhere.

Perwoll is a category American supermarkets barely carry at all: separate detergents for colours, for blacks, and for wool and silk, rather than one bottle for everything.

Every pack prints its wash count — the WL number — so you can work out the cost per wash yourself instead of comparing bottle to bottle.

Being straight with you: this is not the cheapest way to wash clothes, and it costs more per load than a warehouse-store jug. People buy it for the formulation and the scent, and because it is the one they grew up with.
