Marlenka Honey Roll with Raspberry, 10.6 oz (300g)

Baked to European rules. Potassium bromate and azodicarbonamide, both used to treat flour in American baking, are not permitted in the European Union. Six food colours that are still common in American biscuits and iced cakes must carry a warning on the label here, so European bakers stopped using them. Titanium dioxide, used to make icing and coatings an opaque white, has been banned as a food colour in the EU since 2022. It is the same reason the ingredient list on the back of the pack is short.

Marlenka’s honey cake rolled rather than layered, with raspberry through the cream. Very soft, very sweet, and built on an Armenian recipe made in Czechia. Keep it cool and cut it thin.
