Potato gnocchi with a pocket of pesto genovese inside each one — cut one open and the centre is bright green. Made with steamed fresh potatoes, and the pesto is built on Basilico Genovese D.O.P. at 38% of the sauce, with Parmigiano Reggiano and Pecorino Romano.

Cooking

Tip them straight from the box into a pan over medium-high heat with your sauce and half a cup of water (3.4 fl oz). Stir gently for about three minutes. That is the whole method — no pot, no draining, no waiting for water to boil.

The pine nuts are in the pesto, which is traditional but not obvious from the word "gnocchi" — worth saying plainly if you are cooking for someone with a nut allergy.

Keeping it

Keep refrigerated below 41°F (5°C). Once opened, keep refrigerated and use within three days. Packed in a modified atmosphere.

The box notes that the product has already been thawed for you, and should not be re-frozen — re-freezing will spoil the texture. Treat it as a fresh chilled food, not as something out of the freezer.
