Baked to European rules. Potassium bromate and azodicarbonamide, both used to treat flour in American baking, are not permitted in the European Union. Six food colours that are still common in American biscuits and iced cakes must carry a warning on the label here, so European bakers stopped using them. Titanium dioxide, used to make icing and coatings an opaque white, has been banned as a food colour in the EU since 2022. It is the same reason the ingredient list on the back of the pack is short.

Torcik Wedlowski — a large round wafer filled with peanut praline and covered in dark chocolate, then hand-decorated: every one is piped by a person, so no two are identical.

E. Wedel have made it in Warsaw since 1851 and it is the Polish celebration sweet — the thing brought to a house at Christmas or a name day.
