Sugar, wheat flour, wheat starch, gelatine, modified starch, powdered sugar 2.5%, baking powder (raising agents: disodium diphosphate, sodium hydrogen carbonate), rice starch, emulsifiers (E475, E471, E433), acidulant (citric acid), flavouring, thickener (E466).

Allergens

🚨 CONTAINS: WHEAT and GELATINE. This is not suitable for vegetarians — gelatine is in the mix itself, which is easy to miss in a cake kit. The pack does not say whether it is beef or pork; ask us and we will check with the supplier rather than guess.

The mix declares only may contain egg and milk, but the finished cake certainly contains both — the recipe calls for 3 eggs, 500 g of cream and 500 g of quark.

The box is one part of the cake. You will also need 100 g soft butter or margarine, 3 medium eggs, 500 g cold whipping cream, 200 ml warm water and 500 g lean quark, plus a 26 cm springform tin, baking paper and a cake ring.

A German Käse-Sahne-Torte: a thin baked sponge base, split, with a light no-bake quark-and-cream filling set between the halves and chilled at least two hours. The base bakes about 30 minutes; the filling is never cooked. Twelve slices, each 50% of a day's saturated fat.
