Baked to European rules. Potassium bromate and azodicarbonamide, both used to treat flour in American baking, are not permitted in the European Union. Six food colours that are still common in American biscuits and iced cakes must carry a warning on the label here, so European bakers stopped using them. Titanium dioxide, used to make icing and coatings an opaque white, has been banned as a food colour in the EU since 2022. It is the same reason the ingredient list on the back of the pack is short.

The filling is 46% of the biscuit — stated on the German panel as "Doppelkeks mit 46% Schokoladencremefüllung." Nearly half the product by weight is the cream, which is what makes it a Prinzen Rolle rather than a plain sandwich cookie.

Cocoa is Rainforest Alliance certified, marked with an asterisk against the cocoa powder in the ingredient list.
