Jacobs Krönung Signature Ground Coffee, 17.6 oz (500g)

The large 500 g carton of Krönung — the coffee most German kitchens actually have open. Ground for filter and for a cafetière, not for espresso.

Jacobs has roasted since Johann Jacobs opened in Bremen in 1895, and Krönung is the blend the name was built on: taken further through the roast than a supermarket own-brand, so the cup is fuller and rounder rather than sharp. "Signature" is simply the current pack design; the coffee underneath is the standard Krönung.

At 500 g this is twice the usual pack, which is why it is the one worth buying if coffee gets drunk every morning rather than at the weekend.

Ingredients: roasted ground coffee. Nothing else.

The carton is vacuum-packed. Once it is open, fold it down, keep it dry and dark, and use it within a few weeks — ground coffee gives up its aroma faster than beans.
