Appel Filleted Fried Herring / Bratheringe, 11.5 oz (325g)

Bratheringe are herring fillets fried first and then soured in a sweet vinegar marinade, which is a different thing from pickled herring: the frying gives the fish a firmer, meatier texture that survives the marinade. Eat them cold with fried potatoes and raw onion, the way they are eaten on the German coast.
