The Norwegian Christmas pig. Julegris — a marzipan pig, plain and unwrapped, and in Norway it is not a novelty: it is the thing that is meant to bring luck for the coming year, handed over at Christmas the way other countries hand over a chocolate coin.

Nidar has made marzipan to the same 1915 recipe ever since, and the only argument in its favour is the almond content: 37% almonds, which is high. Cheap marzipan is mostly sugar and tastes of it.

Five ingredients and no chocolate to hide behind.
