German Dirndl Ceramic Beer Stein, 0.55 L

A stein moulded in the shape of a dirndl bodice — laced front, gathered apron, the whole thing engraved and hand painted. The two faces carry different bodices, so it reads as a different piece depending which way you turn it on the shelf. It is a joke object and it knows it, but it is a properly made one: 0.55 litres, 6.3 inches tall, and heavy enough in the hand to drink from rather than just look at.

Materials

Glazed ceramic, hand painted over an engraved mould, off-white. The supplier specifies HAND WASH ONLY — the dishwasher would take the colour off a hand-painted piece.

Use and care

Hand wash in warm water. Do not put it in the dishwasher.
